what is the Inquiry based learning?

Dictionary meaning of Inquiry is seeking knowledge, information, or truth through questioning.Inquiry based learning is mainly involving the learner and leading him to understand. Inquiry here implies on the possessing skills and attitude of yours, which allows you to ask questions about new resolutions and issues while you are gaining new information.

I think the best status is to always have questions into study and solve along the process. I think it is the most efficient way in the study. and for public goods study. It is advanced and technical knowledge that we will normally learn it in the college. this require us to put more efforts. except in the class,we also need to go through the text book or even other resource. and for any level of studying, I always consider introduce questions as the status that the person is studying.

HERE ARE FOUR ELEMENTS OF Inquiry based learning.

First, the patterns and meanings should not be deceptive to the beginners.

Second, the useful knowledge about a field should be structured.

Third, the knowledge which is structured should be applicable, transferable, and accessible to a vast range of situations.

Fourth, structure knowledge should be easily retrieved so that new information in that particular field could be gained without much effort.

the characteristics of inquiry based learning
  • creating questions of their own
  • obtaining supporting  evidence to answer the questions
  • explaining the evidence collected
  • connecting the explanations to the knowledge obtained from the investigative process
  • creating an argument and justification for the explanation

Through the learning process students they will have their own confusions about the content, so the next step is to find the evidence to solve the questions and explain it and it is just to make sure that they fully understand the confusions that they have.this is a autonomic learning. it is a way which can also enrich the interests of the subjects for the students. They can neither find the evidence alone or working as a team. The goal of inquiry based learning is to study better and master the knowledge firmly.

ten reasons for inquiry based learning

4. It provides opportunities for autonomy.

5. It requires student engagement. (Inquiry-based learning won’t work without inquiry, and inquiry can’t happen without engagement.)

6. It builds soft skills–and can build confidence and relationships, too.

7. It ‘teaches students to think.’ (See #5.)

8. It provides opportunities for modeling, mentoring, and reflection.

9. It builds citizenship–digital citizenship and local’physical’ citizenship.

10. It’s flexible and powerful. (It can drive other types of learning–project-based learning, place-based education, self-directed learning, etc.)
